Westair is seeking an experienced and motivated Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) to lead our Quality Assurance System across all operational and maintenance functions. The QAM will play a critical role in ensuring regulatory compliance, operational safety and continuous improvement within the organisation. This position is a nominated postholder, based in Windhoek, Namibia, and must be acceptable to the Namibian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Establish, manage and maintain an effective Quality Assurance System (QAS) and documentation control.
  • Plan, conduct and oversee internal and external audits across all departments, including maintenance, operations and training.
  • Ensure compliance with the Namibia Civil Aviation Regulations (NAMCARS) and the company’s quality standards.
  • Identify operational risks and propose corrective/preventative actions to management.
  • Maintain an updated hazard register and report findings to the Senior Accountable Manager (SAM) and senior leadership.
  • Oversee audit processes for subcontractors and service providers to verify compliance with service level agreements.
  • Serve as liaison with the NCAA and other external quality-related bodies.
  • Provide quarterly quality and compliance reports and participate in management review boards.
  • Monitor implementation of regulatory changes affecting operational and maintenance functions.
  • Ensure current and accurate controlled documentation and technical manuals are maintained.
  • Provide advice to management on quality assurance matters, including new projects and regulatory developments.
  • Actively participate in industry forums, safety committees and quality networks.

Minimum requirements:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a quality or safety department within an aviation organisation.
  • Successfully completed an NCAA-recognised Quality Assurance course.
  • Have a working knowledge of the relevant types of aircraft operated by the company.
  • Successfully completed the following training courses:
  • Quality Assurance Management
  • Aviation Auditor
  • Namibia Civil Aviation Regulations
  • Human Factors (or Human Factors Maintenance)
  • Crew Resource Management (CRM) or Team Resource Management (TRM)
  • (Optional) Occurrence/Incident/Accident Investigation
  • Ideally holds or has held one of the following qualifications:
  • Commercial Pilot License
  • Air Traffic Control License
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer’s Qualification
  • Preferably have a minimum of 5 years aviation experience in one or more of the following domains:
  • Aircraft Flight Operations
  • Air Traffic Control
  • Aircraft/Component Maintenance or Airworthiness
  • Aircraft Manufacturing
  • Proven experience in managing audits, ensuring regulatory compliance and driving quality and safety improvements in aviation environments.
